Douglas A. Thomas
As the captain of this ship, Doug is a fire-engine red streak of energy. Bold, tenacious, cheerful, with just a hint (okay, a heap) of rebellion, he founded DUI Defense Matters in 2013 to offer more creative fixes for drunk and drugged-driving charges.
Fortunately, Doug isn’t all talk and flash. Raised on a rural New Mexico ranch, his only audience the herd and flock, this top-rated attorney honed a humble work ethic that ensures every detail is double-checked, every possibility explored, and every cow safely tucked in for the night. With degrees from New Mexico Highlands University and the University of Denver, he has published more than 25 precedent-setting case articles over the course of his career.
William Smith (“Will”) is an experienced litigator who has both prosecuted and defended nearly every type of traffic offense, including traffic offenses involving death. Will is a former Deputy District Attorney. While with the District Attorney’s Office, Will acted in a supervisory capacity, overseeing other Deputy District Attorneys and handling the office’s sensitive matters.
Will has focused his private practice on DUI Defense and Criminal Litigation. Will approaches his practice with a “client first” attitude. Every client is different and every case is different. You can expect a thorough evaluation of your case and a straight-forward analysis of your potential defenses.
It is important to have an attorney that is not afraid to take your case to trial. Will has extensive trial experience resulting in acquittals for his clients. While many cases do not go to trial, you can expect the best result when the prosecution knows your attorney is prepared and willing to litigate your case.
Jason R. Wolfe
Jason R. Wolfe is an experienced trial attorney who is dedicated to working for the best possible results for his clients. After graduating from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2006, Jason joined the Nineteenth Judicial District Attorney’s Office and began his career as a Deputy District Attorney. While working for the D.A. Jason gained valuable experience learning how the criminal justice system operates and how the prosecution approaches cases, appearing on behalf of the People of the State of Colorado in criminal proceedings.
It was then that Jason realized that his training would be put to better use defending those accused of crimes. He felt like many times one bad choice would spiral into a much worse situation for defendants and oftentimes one good defense attorney can help to ensure a person gets a fair shake in the courtroom.
Jason left the D.A.’s Office for private firms where he has practiced criminal defense as well as domestic and family law and civil litigation. Jason brings empathy and understanding to his cases and works tirelessly towards as positive a resolution for his clients as possible.
When Jason isn’t defending his clients in court he spends much of his time with his family. He enjoys getting to spend time outdoors, whether it’s fishing, skiing with his family, or coaching his daughter’s sports teams.
